Greece

My English teacher in High School was Greek and would tell his students different facts and stories about Greece all the time.  It wasn't just the amazing pictures he showed us but the culture and all the mythology it held. Its ancient culture had a huge impact on the arts, language, philosophy and much more. Many people know of the Greek gods but they don't try to understand why they believed in them. To the people of Greece there was a god for many different things. There was a god for air and light, love, and even time. This is so fascinating to me because it goes back so far in their history.

 

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Greece is Santorini. This is a volcanic island and is famous for its intense views and stunning sunsets. It's a cluster of buildings separated by white cobble stone streets. The streets bustle with shops, taverns, hotels and cafes. There’s so much to see and learn about on this island. It's amazing to see the tight knit town and all that it holds. I remember seeing this in movie, the way the buildings come together and seem to be built into the hill its self. This seemed so different to me but also something I really wanted to see in person.

Sitting on top of Acropolis is the Parthenon which is also a very famous tourist attraction. While visiting Athens this temple completes the experience. The construction of the Parthenon started in 447 BC. It has existed on the top of rocky Acropolis for nearly 2,500 years. Attracting millions of people annually this temple is an experience I would not want to miss if I ever get the chance to visit Greece.

I always love to go to the beach so seeing the pictures of Mythos beach makes me want to go to Greece even more. The colors of the water attract many people and is world famous. Mountains sit behind the bright white of the beach and the blue of the water. This is definitely a place I would love to see.

There is so much that can be learned just by going to another place. I hope that one day I can experience Greece and its history. Looking into all the tourist attractions I found that many of them were buildings from different eras. Millions of people have went to Greece to see these places and learn about them just like I would like to.
